Britain played a key role in the development of this genre as many bands that have since become popular in the world emanated from the United Kingdom. Since its inception in the 40s, the genre has been on an upward trend, spreading its wings to countries outside the United States. While most popular genres are mainly covered by solo artists, rock is mostly done by bands with four or more artists as it incorporates several beats from different instruments that include electric bass, guitars and drums. It was created by borrowing different aspects from several genres including country music, blues, jazz, electric blues and African-American music.
